Several new foreign institutional investors have emerged as key players recently in Indian market.

Another interesting aspect is that the recent spurt in FII activity is not only from traditional geographies such as the US and the UK, but also countries such as Singapore, Qatar, Ireland and Hong Kong.

According to analysts, it is a welcome sign, as FII holding would get broad based. If investors enter Indian market from various geographies, turbulence in any one country or region would not jeopardize flows to our country. US GOVT DEBT

US rating agency Standard & Poor’s (S&P) on Monday downgraded its outlook on US sovereign debt from “stable to negative,” citing worries over budget deficits and debt.
